Jamie Guilbeau and Thelma Guilbeau UL Lafayette Collections Research Grant

Eligibility: Any UL Lafayette faculty, staff, or students
 
Award: $500
 
Allowable Uses: To promote the use of research collections housed at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette
 
Due: RFPs will be posted
 
Application Materials: cover letter, current CV of no more than three pages, a 500-to 700-word prospectus describing the research project and identifying the collections to be used, and, if a graduate student, a letter of support from a thesis or dissertation advisor

College of Liberal Arts Subvention Matching Grants

Eligibility:
  • Must be tenure-track and tenured faculty from the UL Lafayette College of Liberal Arts
  • Faculty may apply for subvention support once every two years
  • Single authored scholarly peer-reviewed books from a university or other scholarly press
  • Trade press or popular press only considered in exceptional cases
  • Scholarly journal articles in highly ranked, field-specific publications, if required for publication
  • Likelihood of publication within one year
  • Publication in any language and in any liberal arts discipline.
  • Departmental agreement to match funds
Award: Up to $500
 
Allowable Uses:
  • Subvention fees required by a publisher
  • Payments will be made directly to the publisher and the college will require a letter from the publisher agreeing to repay subvention fees should the work not be published
  • Exclusions are:
    • Grants cannot be used for textbooks, reissued titles, or subsequent editions
    • Authors who received a cash advance are not eligible
    • Costs are not reimbursements and cannot be used for research or other expenses prior to submission to the publishers
    • Grants cannot be used for translation services or routine expenses such as indexing or copy editing
    • Faculty with professorships or other dedicated funding for subventions (UL Lafayette Foundation support, outside grant support, etc.) are not eligible
    • Grants will not be awarded for self-published materials

  • Letter outlining the case for a subvention matching grant
  • A current CV A pre-publication copy of the work
  • The book/article contract and any other pertinent documentation such as an explanation of what costs the subvention will defray
