Friends of the Humanities Grants

Eligibility: Full-time Faculty of any rank; College of Liberal Arts: English; History; Philosophy; Geography; Modern Languages; Sociology; Anthropology; Moving Image Arts

Award: Up to $1,000

Allowable Uses:
  • Humanities classroom instructional materials (e.g., books, AV equipment, art supplies), or
  • Humanities course enhancement (e.g., guest speakers and artists, lectures, concerts, performances, symposia, and/or development of new courses) and faculty development.
Due: October 1 and March 1

Application Materials: RFP will be emailed

Humanities Travel Grants

Eligibility: Faculty in History, Philosophy, English and Modern Languages, but other faculty in the College may apply if their work is in the humanities (i.e., cultural anthropology, etc.)
 
Award: $250 to $500
 
Allowable Uses: Travel to professional conferences for the purpose of enhancing the quality of humanities research and teaching at the University
 
Due: Rolling (apply early in the academic year)

University Research Travel Grants

Eligibility: Full-time permanent faculty
 
Note: Faculty are eligible for one travel award within each of the two grant categories (research or professional development), assuming eligibility criteria are met each fiscal year, July 1st to June 30th. Read this PDF to find out more about this award.
 
Award: $1,000 to $1,500
 
Allowable Uses: Travel to a conference to present research (requires officially accepted conference presentation)
 
Due: Multiple rounds

University Professional Development Travel Grants

Eligibility: Full-time permanent faculty

Note: Faculty are eligible for one travel award within each of the two grant categories (research or professional development), assuming eligibility criteria are met each fiscal year, July 1st to June 30th. Read this PDF to find out more about this award.

Award: $750 to $1,000

Allowable Uses: Attendance at conference to support professional development (or accepted conference presentation)

Due: Multiple rounds
