Noted critic and editor Arthur Krystal delivered the 2016 Flora Plonsky Levy Lecture, Jacques Barzun and Lionel Trilling – An Improbable Friendship. Krystal’s talk centered on the friendship of Jacques Barzun and Lionel Trilling, two major literary and cultural giants of the mid-20th century, who for forty years taught together at Columbia University.
