Fabrice Leroy (Modern Languages) co-authored (with Livio Belloï, University of Liège) a monograph on French cartoonist, painter, and videographer Pierre La Police. Entitled Pierre La Police: Une esthétique de la malfaçon (Paris: Serious Publishing, April 2019), this essay examines La Police's iconoclastic graphic works and their deliberate parody of visual storytelling, scientific discourse, and the news media, as a continuation of Flaubertian irony and dadaist anti-art. The book contains 58 full-page color illustrations and a complete bibliography of La Police's diverse artistic output.
