Qualifications for Participation

In order for a student to be eligible to participate in the Region VI Social Studies Fair, that student must place first, second or third at the Parish Social Studies Fair, with an individual or group project in one of the academic disciplines. Please note: Ties are NOT accepted. Please contact your parish supervisor for information concerning the Parish Social Studies Fair.

Judging

Projects will be judged by UL Lafayette professors and upper level students, social studies teachers from participating parishes, and community volunteers. Projects will be judged on the following criteria: research and interpretation of the idea, the creative ability, and the effectiveness of the student's presentation. Anyone interested in judging at the Region VI Social Studies Fair, please call Sally Donlon at (337) 482-2963.

Registration and Fees

On the day of the Parish Fair, each student (spokesperson) placing first, second or third will be required to fill out the Region VI entry form and pay a $15.00 Region VI entry fee. All checks should be made out to The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Staff members from the Region VI Social Studies Fair will be at the Parish Fairs to collect fees and entry forms. No student will be allowed to turn in their entry form AFTER the date of their Parish Social Studies Fair.
