2010 STATE SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR
GENERAL INFORMATION

 

 
Date of the State Fair:

Monday, April 26, 2010
 
Site of the State Fair will be:

Lake Charles Civic Center
900 Lake Shore Drive
Lake Charles, LA

Directions
 
The schedule of the day is as follows:
 
7:30 am to 9:30 am ------ Project Registration

9:30 am to 10:00 am ------ Judges' Meeting/Judge orientation

10:15 am to 1:00 pm ------ Judging of Projects

1:00 pm to 1:45 pm ------ Processing of judges forms

1:45 pm to 2:15 pm ------ Public Viewing of Projects

2:30 pm to 3:30 pm ------ Award Ceremony

3:30 pm ------ Removal of Projects

 
General Information:
 
  1. All projects remaining following the end of the awards ceremony will be discarded. The State Social Studies Fair Council will NOT hold, store, guard, etc., projects that are not removed in a timely manner.

  2. Participants must make their own arrangements for staying in hotels, if necessary.

  3. Participants in the ffair must follow parking regulations.

  4. School uniforms may not be worn by participanats at the State Fair. Names of schools, teacher, students, etc., may not be worn on buttons, ribbons, on the project, within the research paper, etc.

  5. Participants may not utilize cell phones, two-way radios, or any other communication device while judging is being conducted. Any participant caught violating this rule is subject to immediate disqualification. Parents can be assured that their child will be allowed to call them on such devices when their project category has been completely judged, to arrange a meeting place.

  6. Fair participants judged for a total of 4 minutes; 2 minutes to present their project to the judges and 2 minutes of questioning related to the project by the judges.

  7. Please make sure your child has eaten before judging. Children should eat a substantial meal due to the length of judging. Food and drink are not allowed on the floor of the arena.

  8. Participants are responsible for all equipment and/or person belongings that are used for the project or carried into the arena. The Louisiana State Social Studies Fair and the Lake Charles Arena are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged equipment.

  9. Following judging, participants will be reeleased once ALL projects in their particular category are completely judged. At that time they must exit the judging area.

  10. Only one participant will be allowed to present a project, this includes group projects. Group projects participants must decide which member of the group will present the project. All other group members will not be allowed in the judging area once judging has begun.

  11. Parents and guardians are not allowed in the judging area. Parents are asked to wait for his or her child outside the arena. we cannot allow anyone to wait inside the arena during judging due to noise. The arena concession stands on one side of the arena will be opened during judging for those waiting for students.

  12. Please remain seated until the entire award ceremony is complete in order to give everyone a chance to be acknowledged properly for his/her success.

  13. Once the award ceremony is complete you are free to take your project.
