Awarded on the basis of academic merit and professional promise to students with either junior or senior standing majoring in Political Science, Philosophy or History. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Scholarship pays $200 annually over two semesters; $100 Fall and $100 Spring. Requires a 3.0 semester GPA to retain scholarship.

Awarded to the best paper submitted by a Political Science/Pre-Law student each semester. Professors in the department will submit potential papers from the previous semester to a faculty committee for final judgement. Award is a one-time payment of $50.

Must have 45 credit hours or more with a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Award is $500 for the Spring semester. Other criteria includes extra curricuular activities such as contributions to the Political Science Department, university or community and financial need.

JOSEPH ONEBANE MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a U. S. citizen and a Louisiana resident; completed sophomore year at UL Lafayette; must have a minimum 3.2 GPA. Recipient must be majoring in Political Science or any other Bachelor of Arts degree program or be interested in pursuing an education in law and currently majoring in any bachelor degree within the College of Business Administration or the College of Liberal Arts. The value of the scholarship is the amount of tuition for the Fall semester and the Spring semester. Recipient must complete the Fall semester as a full-time student and have earned a 3.0 GPA to maintain scholarship.

Open to Louisiana natives who have graduated from Louisiana high schools. Applicants must be enrolled at UL Lafayette in the sophomore year of study (having earned between 30 and 50 hours) and must be majoring in Political Science or Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law. Students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Selection is made on the basis of academic achievements, financial need, initiative and industry, and contributions to the Political Science program at the University. Scholarship pays $500; $250 for Fall and Spring. Requires a 3.0 semester GPA to retain scholarship.

Must be a U.S. citizen and a Louisiana resident. Be a senior level student who will graduate in the Fall semester or in the Spring semester. Must have taken the LSAT and must be intending to enter law school no later that the following Fall after graduation. Student must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be majoring in Political Science or Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law or law-school-bound students in any academic major. The number to be awarded in an academic year is 10 scholarships at $1,500 each.
