Louisiana native enrolled as a first-time freshman at UL Lafayette majoring in English. Must be eligible to apply for the UL Lafayette Academic Scholarship.

ANN DOBIE OUTSTANDING FRESHMAN ESSAY AWARD

Recipient must be a registered full-time freshman in the semester that the award is given. The award pays $200 annually.

DORIS H. MERIWETHER ENDOWED ENGLISH

Recipient must be a junior for the semester the student is to receive the funds; have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA; be majoring in English in the College of Liberal Arts; must have completed a minimum of 12 hours in English; must have at least a 3.5 GPA in English courses; have completed the university mathematics requirements; have been a full-time student at UL Lafayette for at lest two semesters; and applications for this scholarship must include at least three letters of recommendations from previous instructors; and the scholarship selection commttee may ask for writing samples. The award pays $1,000 annually for 2 semesters; $500 for the Fall semester and $500 for the Spring semester.

Recipient must be eligible to enter his/her senior year with at least two semesters remaining in his/her degree program and have a 2.5 GPA. Student must be majoring in English. The award pays $500 annually for two semesters; $250 in Fall and $250 in Spring. Requires a 2.5 semester GPA to maintain scholarship.

ROBERT AND BERNICE WEBB TECHNICAL WRITING AWARD

Recipient must be enrolled in a technical writing class. Student must have a 3.0 GPA to be eligible. The award pays $50 for one semester.

AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ENGLISH

Recipient must be a secondary education major with English as the primary teaching area and have the highest overall GPA among eligible students. Student may not win the award more than once. The award pays $50 for one semester.

ZONTA INTERNATIONAL/MARY DICHMANN SCHOLARSHIP

Must be majoring in English in the College of Liberal Arts and eligible to enter junior or senior year or be enrolled in graduate school. Student must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Scholarship pays $500 annual for one semester.
