General Liberal Arts Scholarships

All applications are due June 1 and should be emailed to cola@louisiana.edu with the scholarship name you are applying for in the subject line.

A. L. Barcelona Memorial Scholarship in Liberal Arts • Liberal Arts major
• U.S. citizen
• Junior or Senior
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Can be a transfer student
$1000 annually  ($500 for the Fall semester and $500 for the Spring semester) 3.0 GPA for the Fall semester
Ray L. Barry Memorial Endowment Scholarship • US citizen
• Entering sophomore, junior, or senior year
• Liberal Arts major
• 3.2 cumulative GPA
• Upper division
$500 annually  ($250 for the Fall semester and $250 for the Spring semester) 3.0 GPA for the Fall semester
I. Bruce Turner Scholarship • Junior, Senior or admitted to the Graduate School
• Undergraduate minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0; graduate students either new student or minimum graduate G.P.A. of 3.0
• Preference given to students with interest in library science and archival procedures or a History major
• Student must complete 25 hours per semester working on a designated project for the Edith Garland Dupre Library Special Collections
$1,000 ($500 for the Fall semester and $500 for the Spring semester) 3.0 GPA for the Fall semester
Richard and Mary Neiheisel Dissertation Award • Enrolled in any Doctoral degree program in the College of Liberal Arts
• Cumulative graduate GPA of at least a 3.75, no more than two grades of "C" and no grades lower than "C"
$1,000 ($500 for the Fall semester and $500 for the Spring semester) 3.75 GPA for the Fall semester
Pamela Stroup Endowed Scholarship for Liberal Arts Transfer Students • US Citizen
• Admitted to UL as a Transfer Student
• Eligible to enter Sophomore or Junior year
• Cumulative GPA 3.0
• Maintenance requirement: GPA 3.0
• Any major in the College of Liberal Arts
$500 for the academic year 3.0 GPA for the Fall semester
Roy Theriot Memorial Scholarship
• Entering Freshman majoring in French, History, or Political Science
• US Citizen
• Louisiana Resident and graduate of an accredited Louisiana high school
• Resident of the greater Acadiana area (bordered by Texas to the West, Alexandria to the North, the Gulf of Mexico to the South and the Mississippi River to the East).
$500 for the academic year 3.0 GPA for the Fall semester
Dean’s Endowed Scholarship • Admitted and enrolled in a Liberal Arts graduate program.
• Regular admission status and good academic standing
• Preference for Ph.D. in Francophone
Studies program
and financial need.
Typically $1,500-$2,000 for the academic year 3.0 GPA for the Fall semester
