Guide to Minor Concentrations

Table of Contents

Introduction

One of the potential resources for all majors in the College of Liberal Arts is the requirement for a minor concentration. The minor can add depth and breadth to a student’s major and prepare the student to be more competitive in the marketplace or better equipped to continue graduate or professional school. Early consideration of a minor concentration can assist a student in planning his or her degree progress.

Requirements

A minor concentration consists of a minimum of 18 credit hours (generally 6 courses) in an approved area. At least 6 hours must be completed at the 300 or 400 level. In certain majors, there are special requirements for the minor. Check with an academic advisor or the dean should there be questions. Finally, all pre- and co-requisites must be met to take any of the courses listed in the minor. Check catalog course descriptions to determine pre- and co-requisite course requirements.
